Rainy Lake 2009

We just got back from 5 days fishing Rainy Lake in Ontario. It was a great group of 8 guys staying at a 9th guy's beautiful cabin on the lake. The peak walleye feed is not quite on yet but it's close. We still boated a large number of walleyes with many of them over 10 pounds. It was a short time in paradise.

June 6th Muskie Opener

6 of us in two boats hit Forest for the muskie opener last Saturday. We had three follows but didn't boat any muskies. We did catch quite a mess of pike and a few bass. Plenty of action on the lines to keep things fun.

May 9th Fishing St. Croix

Isabel and I hit the St. Croix at sunrise this morning. We caught sheepshead, white bass, walleye, and this channel cat. It was a fun morning on the St. Coix other than hitting a few underwater trees with the prop.

St. Croix Opener

From 2009 Open Water Fishing

A friend and I hit the St. Croix for the opener and a friendly walleye tournament last weekend. He caught a few 14 inch walleyes and we both hit a nice mess of white bass. I took a few big white bass home for fish-n-chips. We were fishing mainly with crank baits. I plan in hitting it with live bait next to see what will bite. What a beautiful place to fish!

Geocaching with the Girls

Isabel, Sadie, and I went out geocaching Today to find Sudsy. It was a three stage cache that had an algebra puzzle. We found it! We put in a small horse and Sadie took out a butterfly. It was a beautiful day on the trails!

Feb End of Season Pike

A buddy and I hit the ice this morning to throw some tip-ups out with suckers for some pike before the season ends Tomorrow. We had around 7 or 8 flags with real fish runs. The pike were really toying with us by running with the minnow in their mouths and spitting them out on a hook set. One big fish broke the line. We ended up with only 2 on the ice from all those flags, but it was enough for me to do a fresh fish fry for my family for lunch. It was super fresh and what a treat!

Time to focus on crappies until the season opens again...
