July 26th Morning Crappies

I hit the lake this morning at around 6am and went over to the hole on lake 2. I found fish suspended on the vex in around 15 feet of water so I dropped the anchor. I used both a lindy rig with a floating jig and just a plain 16th oz jig both tipped with either 3" Gulp Alive! minnows or 3" Gulp Alive! leeches. Both were working great. I was catching crappies on almost every cast. I hit one walleye as well. I was limited out and off the lake by 8am. What a great morning on the lake! It's hard to beat fresh crappies for fish and chips.

July 19th Rush Lake

Hit Rush Lake Yesterday with a couple friends for some volleyball and fishing. We took third place in the volleyball tournament but got knocked out by a team that was third place in the Minnesota circuit. We had a blast playing.

The early morning fishing before volleyball was more of an exploration of the lake. We found some great structure and moved around and tried a few areas. Hit the little walleye above on a rocky transition.

We didn't get as much fishing in as we wanted to since the thunderstorms rolled in shortly after we hit the lake again after lunch and the volleyball tournament. We hightailed it off the lake but had a scary pull of the boat off with all of the harsh rain, wind, and lightning.
