Mid February Ice Fishing
An old buddy Landon and I both took the day off from work to relax and do some ice fishing. We started in the weeds early to search for pike and had a few flags. We ended up with one nice northern to add to the freezer. After lunch we moved the shack over to the edge of a deep hole to see if we could find some crappies or walleyes. We were marking lots of fish on the vex including some fairly big ones. Until sundown we only seemed to be getting perch to bite and the larger fish seemed uninterested in what we were offering them. We did get some nibbles in the sundown prime time, but wrapped things up at 7pm to head in for some dinner. I'll have to give this deeper spot a few more tries from sundown until later to see what it can produce before pulling the shack off for the year. Overall it was a nice relaxing day on the ice and fun to hang out with an old buddy!
